Alternatives to pedigree software platforms

If you're evaluating a clinical pedigree platform and want to know what else is out there, these field guides are for you. Each one walks through honest alternatives — including Evagene, but also the other products we think genuinely compete. No bait-and-switch; just the landscape.

What the alternatives collectively do not do on one pedigree

Each tool in the alternatives set has its strengths. What we have not found in a single alternative is coverage of all four risk-model families from one pedigree document: Mendelian single-gene (AD / AR / XLR), polygenic / oligogenic / multifactorial liability-threshold across 20+ catalogued common diseases, cancer family-history scoring (BRCAPRO, MMRpro, PancPRO, Claus, Couch, Frank, Manchester, NICE, Amsterdam II, revised Bethesda, Gail, and a Tyrer-Cuzick IBIS-style approximation), and a one-click CanRisk / BOADICEA pedigree export.

Two transparency notes: Tyrer-Cuzick is an approximation of the published 2004 algorithm, not the official IBIS binary; BOADICEA is not bundled — Evagene exports a ##CanRisk 2.0 file that the clinician uploads at canrisk.org. See the April 2026 release notes for the full model list with citations, or the decision matrix for per-model indications.
